Zeinab Al Hashemi

Zeinab Alhashemi is an Emirati conceptual artist known for her large- scale, site-specific installations that explore the interplay between natural landscapes and urban development. Born in 1986, she earned a BA

in Arts and Science with a specialization in Multimedia Design from Zayed University. Her work often deconstructs and reconstructs viewers' perceptions of their surroundings, utilizing materials that juxtapose the organic and the industrial.

 

Alhashemi has participated in numerous art fairs and festivals, including the Sharjah Biennial 11 and Dubai Design Week. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at prominent galleries worldwide. Notably, she was commissioned by the Institut de France and the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi to showcase at the inauguration of the Louvre Abu Dhabi as part of the Co-Lab Show in 2018. She has also completed commissioned works for public and private collections in the UAE and Gulf region.

 

In her artistic process, Alhashemi often collaborates with artisans and incorporates traditional techniques to produce innovative contemporary works. Her installations aim to create new perceptions of reality by challenging and transforming the viewer's understanding of their environment.
