Benton works with socially engaged art and large-scale installations, transforming everyday materials, public spaces, and archives to explore themes of labor, migration, and community resilience. His practice often involves collaboration with architects, scientists, and local communities to reimagine urban spaces and cultural narratives.
His long-term projects include leading a Black dance archive with MIT’s Immersion Lab, designing a public park for Abu Dhabi, and reimagining low-income housing with a team of architects and urbanists. His work has been exhibited at the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial, Fikra Graphic Design Biennial, and the 59th Venice Biennale, among others.
Benton’s research has been featured in BBC, CNN, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, and Architectural Digest. Supported by the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation, he earned an MSc from MIT and has held fellowships at the University of Georgia and the University of Oxford.
Previously, he was the global creative director for Huawei.
